The law enforcement boat may experience common issues such as leaking and discoloration of the rubber shell. So how should these be handled, and what are the causes of these issues?
Law enforcement boatCommon issues such as water leakage and discoloration of the shell may occur. So how should we handle it, and what are the causes?
1. Discoloration, bubbling, and black spots on the surface shell of the law enforcement boat: Due to the instability of the curing agent ratio used during local repair construction under different weather conditions at different times, or the color difference of shells from different batches, discoloration of the external shell may occur in the future (light and dark color differences, yellowing), especially on dark shells. If small bubbles and dust particles are not completely eliminated during layering, it can cause bubbling and black spots on the external shell later.
There are three methods to handle it:
a. Color difference: Sand down the surface shell layer, reapply the same model of shell, wet sand to #1000 or above sandpaper, and then polish and wax to finish. During production and repair, the amount of curing agent should be controlled according to the manufacturer's recommendations.
b. Bubbling/black spots: Chisel away the shell layer at the bubbling/black spot, reapply the same model of shell, wet sand to #1000 or above sandpaper, and then polish and wax to finish.
c. For deeper bubbling or black spots: Chisel down to the bottom, then use chopped mat and layered resin to fill the recessed area, wait for curing to complete, and then reapply the same model of shell, wet sand to #1000 or above sandpaper, and then polish and wax to finish.
2.Law enforcement boatCracking at the junction of the hull and deck: This usually occurs due to accidental collisions during use at the junction of the gunwale (hull and deck).
There are two methods to handle it:
a. For small local collisions: Remove the gunwale fender strip, repair the fiberglass, and re-fix it using structural adhesive and bolts, then reinforce/repair to complete.
b. For larger area collisions: Please contact the dealer to arrange for professional repair.
3. Cracking of the surface shell at the junction of the hull, deck, flybridge, and fiberglass components of the law enforcement boat: This mostly occurs at stairs and at the junction of single fiberglass components and the main deck. Due to the combination of two fiberglass components, the convex and concave corners are prone to cracking at the surface shell due to long-term use.
Method of handling: Remove the excessively thick surface shell layer, reinforce with mat and layered resin, wait for curing, then reapply the same model of shell, wet sand to #1000 or above sandpaper, and then polish and wax to finish.
4.Law enforcement boatWater accumulation on the deck surface: Local water accumulation occurs due to poor drainage of the anti-skid board or teak deck.
There are two solutions:
a. For local water accumulation near the edge, an additional drainage outlet can be added.
b. For larger areas of water accumulation, the surface floor drainage slope needs to be re-organized.
