When spraying aluminum alloy boats, the following points should be noted: Before starting the coating work, the operator should check the spray gun and adjust it to produce the ideal spray pattern.
Aluminum alloy boatThe following points should be noted during spraying construction:
1. Before starting the coating, the constructor should check the spray gun and adjust it to produce an ideal fan pattern.
2. Hold the spray gun so that the spray beam is always perpendicular to the surface and maintain a uniform distance of 25 to 30 centimeters from the surface being coated, avoiding arc-like movements caused by hand and brain rotation.
3. The trigger should be pulled just before the edge of the surface to be coated is in a straight line with the nozzle. The trigger should be fully pulled down and the spray gun should move at a constant speed until it reaches the other side of the object, then release the trigger, turn off the fluid, but continue to move the spray gun a distance until it returns to the starting point, and when reaching the edge of the coated object, pull the trigger down completely again and continue moving past the object.
4. The trigger should be activated while moving the gun during spraying, and similarly, it should be closed while moving.
5. Each spray pass should overlap the previous one by 50%, ensuring an even coverage of the paint film. At corners, the spray gun should be aimed at the centerline of the corner to ensure even film thickness on both sides.
Wait for the epoxy primer to fully cure (generally more than 24 hours) before proceeding with rough sanding (can use pneumatic or electric sanders), typically using 80#--120# sand discs or belts, ensuring that all primer surfaces are properly sanded.
Topcoat application
About 12 hours later, continue applying aliphatic polyurethane topcoat. When the temperature is high, the coating interval can be appropriately shortened. Before spraying the topcoat on the aluminum alloy boat, check if the surface is clean and remove all dust and debris from the surface to be sprayed. First, add the hardener to the main paint (according to the technical requirements of the paint manufacturer),
After mixing evenly, add an appropriate amount of thinner. Use a spray gun with a nozzle diameter of 1.3--1.5mm for spraying, adjusting the air pressure to about 4--6 atmospheres, keeping the distance from the nozzle to the prototype surface at 25~30cm, and moving the spray gun at a uniform speed. The spraying should be done in two passes, with a 20--25 minute interval after the first pass before proceeding with the second spray. The fan size can be adjusted according to different parts of the prototype to achieve even coverage. The paint curing can achieve a self-polishing effect on the surface.
After each coat of paint is completed, the surface should not have obvious drips, pinholes, shrinkage holes, orange peel, etc. The interval between two coats of paint should not exceed 15 days. Before applying the second coat, check if the paint film has dust, oil stains, etc., and touch up any areas with insufficient coverage or film thickness.
